Višnja Milidragović** is a (creative nonfiction) writer, Canadian (im)migrant, (lucid) dreamer, and a wanderer at heart (even when her body is in stillness).

Born in the former-Yugoslavia (current-day Bosnia), she finds home (today) on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations (Vancouver, BC), where she works on provincial programs that advance responsible tourism. She is a graduate of SFU's The Writer's Studio (2020) and has a Masters in Publishing and a BA in English Literature.

Her memoir pieces have been shortlisted for The Malahat Review Open Season Awards **(2022, 2023) and The Humber Literary Review creative nonfiction contest (2021). You can find her work in fig:ment and untethered as well as the anthology, Emerge 2020.

She is currently working on an anti-war memoir, supported in part, by a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts for emerging artists and a Long-Form Mentorship from Diaspora Dialogues.

<aside> 📖 *In many Slovene languages, Višnja (Cyrillic: ви̏шња) translates to Prunus cerasus, "sour cherry" or "wild cherry."

Old Slavic words *mil (*mил) and drag (драг) translate to "beloved", "dear." Suffix -vic (ви̏ч) comes from the Latin word vicus, meaning hamlet or village.
